Help with Nikon lens?
How much better would the NIKKOR 50mm 1.8f lens be compared to my D3100 kit lens, VR NIKKOR 18-55mm?
I am new to the D-SLR world, so if you could help me out, that would be great! 
It all depends on what you want to do with your camera. You can do some research and get the kit with about any lense you want also. The huge advantage of the nifty 50 is is is such a sharp clear lens. The disadvantage to the nifty 50 is it is a fixed lens. I do not think you will be able to tell the difference between clarity between the two, so I would get the 18-55 to cover some close up work, then get a 70-300 to get a little farther out there.
