Lens, a standard zoom Nikon D90?

I am researching a standard lens to use on my new Nikon D90. To order a membership question Open the lens is best? Why these two costs much more (apart from opening)? AF-S 17-55f/2.8 DX Zoom-Nikkor 17-55mm f / 2.8 G IF-24-70f/2.8 EDQuick see $ 1,539.95 AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f / 2.8 G EDQuick see $ 1,889.95

Well to start opening f / 2.8 are expensive because it allows a faster shutter speed, which is great for sports. From the list given by the Nikon 24-70 and 17-55 are the best by far. But I would stay away from them just because of the price unless you have the money by all means do so. If I had to get a goal in the list would 16 to 85 allows a good deal of the range of about 24 on one side and then extends to about 120 at the end that makes it the perfect walk-around unless it includes the Nikon 24-70. Also available Nikon 18-200 but I have heard many opinions as to the 24-120 yet to hear anything good worth mentioning or never used heard a lot about 24-85. I've heard a lot of great things about the Tamron 17-50, but for me I think we need not go far enough. My suggestion is to make the The Tamron 17-50 mm f / 2.8 just because it has an aperture of f / 2.8 or get the 16-85 which is an extremely large target, which is a bit over priced. But if you have the money the Nikon 24-70 mm f / 2.8 is worth the price.
