I bought a Nikkor 50mm 1:1.4 which is made in Japan. How does it differ from that of 50 mm 1:1.4 D?
The lens was bought and AF and I know that the D version is also AF. Mine just entered the 1:1.4 in the body while the D version is 1:1.4 D inscribed in the body.
The 50mm f/1.4 is a manual focus lens, first introduced in 1981. The f/1.4D is an autofocus lens introduced in 1995. Lenses "D" had a distance sensor in the body of the lens focus adjustment passed information to the camera, allowing for better measurement and flash photography.
