Do I regret getting a D40 when you can get a D80?

After months of thinking, I learned I wanted to have a D80 with a Nikkor 18-200 for about $ 1300, but then I read Ken Rockwell's website and his views on the D40 vs. D80. I'm just a mom who wants enough photos of their children, especially those shows all the freckles and eyelashes. I will not have time to fiddle around with all the bells and whistles of the D80 for at least 5-7 years. Thus, the D40 should be more than sufficicent for me, right? I'm thinking you should only receive a D40 w / 18-55 and 55-200 VR for $ 600.00 and then when I have more time to really study the photograph, I can update the target. Does this make sense? How long will the D40 last for a rookie. You have to see me for at least 5-7 years, should not he? And the goal too, right? I just want to stop thinking about it and buy something, so I have a camera Christmas. Please advise. Thanks! Galán F, and Sam, you are too wonderful! Thanks. I have the answer I need. Thanks!

I agree with Galán. You're absolutely right. The D40 will be great for their purposes and should last you and your creativity very well for several years. The worst that could happen is to learn a little about the picture and when you want to buy a new camera, Nikon has introduced 10 new models for you to choose from. The D80 is really great, but after reading its description, may be an exaggeration. The lens of 18 to 55 would be enough, too, if you just want more fit for children. 55-200 would be more for distance shots. These two will give an idea about focal lengths – sort of http://www.flickr.com/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstein/476181737/ photos/samfeinstein/1245831147 / 50mm: http://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstein/3036583772/ This would be a 24mm on the D40: http://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstein/2659677653/ 55mm http://www.flickr .com/photos/samfeinstein/1316716419 /
