Ice hockey / outdoor sports (snowboard) lens for Nikon D40?
So I decided to buy a Nikon D40. since I have not seen or tried any time I am not sure if I have to buy a separate lens of 18-55 to take action in the interior areas (Air Canada Center / Arena community) and air free in the winter to snowboard shots. so my choices are the Nikon AF-S 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 VR and the Nikon AF-S DX 55-200mm F4-5.6 VR. Is there any other suggestion. and without glasses over $ 600. what is the best? and since I'm a beginner, you really need to 70-300? Also, I'll be taking pictures and such regular friend, can I use these lenses to take those pictures or will I go back to 18-55? since I'm buying my camera tomorrow at blacksphoto'm not sure if I should buy a camera and lens at the same time, or test the camera with its kit lens and then, if I'm not satisfied, i buy a new lens? blacksphoto not give discounts for buying a camera with a lens? I go to the store in Etobicoke.
Either will serve you well. The 55-200 VR is slightly worse than the 70-300 and has less range and worse built, but is approximately half the price. And you will be 18-55. The 55-200 VR, as I have found is a bit too long to take pictures of people nearby. When you have to do that, use the 18-55.
