Looking for a professional quality camera.?

I used Kodak cameras, and are really good. The thing is that they have the quality of the photos you want. Am looking for a professional quality camera with a price range of 400-700 dollars. I love the Canon and Nikon cameras, but I have a question, is your software compadiable with a Mac? I have the latest operating system, a OSX 14, and 512 MB of RAM. (Im 1 GB upgrade to Leopard when it comes out.) I want a camera with good clarity, zoom functions, and shutter speeds. interchangeable lenses, I do not need, but interchangeable blinks / flashes would be nice. Thanks for the help! Sincerely, Stephanie

It is not "professional grade," but still an excellent digital SLR in its price range, get a Nikon D50. I am using a D200 and got this camera so my wife could "keep" me. We do not regret it because it is an excellent camera. It has a few "consumer friendly" automatic modes that make it very easy to use, yet offers total photographic control when you are ready to take charge. The "kit" lens is a decent lens optically, but you may want to upgrade to the Nikkor AF-S DX 18-70 f/3.5-4.5G ED lens range and durability a little more. When you are ready to add lenses the sky is the limit with Nikon. Then, when you upgrade your camera, you have one, pretty useful collection of lenses. Get a 1 GB card memory, such as Sandisk "Ultra" for decent typing speed. The D40 is the new digital SLR Nikon's pretty hot, but frankly, it costs the same as the D50 and it is so versatile, if you decide to learn more about what you are doing. He had just bought the D50 and be done with it, since the D40 is going to be hard to find anyway. In fact, many people are getting the idea that the D50 is the bargain of the century, and it is becoming difficult to find. I think the Nikon camera software is compatible with Mac, but I suggest you spend others $ 20 and get a card reader. You can use Photoshop or other imaging software you want, without going through the software manufacturer of the camera altogether.
