Great camera for users of old Minolta!,

I've been using this camera for several weeks and am very impressed. These are the pros, in my opinion:

(1) The camera is very light and balanced Using the Lens 1918-1955. My wife was very surprised with the weight, or lack thereof.

(2) Minolta Maxxum AF lenses work perfectly with this camera! Telephoto I have two old (20 years) that produce incredible pictures with the Sony. My old flash zoom works well, although I have to adjust exposure manually. While the new Sony lenses are much lighter, the quality of older lenses can be purchased on auction sites at a fraction of the cost new lens. Just remember to be much heavier than today's modern optics.

(3) The A330 works well as an automatic point and shoot the camera, but also allows the flexibility to configure everything manually if desired. I especially appreciate the ease of adjusting the white balance for pictures flashless in changing lighting conditions. Depth of field was easy to adjust with aperture priority.

(4) The image quality is outstanding. Display output high definition on my Sony Bravia via HDMI output is an incredible way to preview photos. My TV remote progress even pictures from my camera as I watch!

(5) both take an SD memory card and Memory Stick Pro Duo card simultaneously. When one is full, the pull of a switch changes to another card. Memory is limited mainly by the size of your wallet.

(6) 3200 ISO setting does well in low light, although There is some grain.

Here are a few disadvantages:

(1) Some functions are buried in menus. This seems to be part of the course in these days for all camera manufacturers.

(2) When passing a camera of 8 mega pixels, it creates files substantially higher 10.2. It is important take into account what the photos will be used for, then set the resolution accordingly.

(3) The pop-up flash hits the hat!

I did much research before buying this camera. The main selling point was the ability to use my old Minolta lenses and tilt the screen back. This camera reminds me of my old 35 mm. It feels like I'm actually taking photos again, instead of simply capturing digital images. Those who want or need more features Sony should look at the high end. However, for beginner to intermediate photographers, it must meet the requirements right!

Days Spent compare … After more than 1000 shots, very very happy!,

Ok, I've spent days, literally, carefully comparing entry-level digital SLR (Canon XS, XSi, nikon d3000, D5000, Pentax kx) and have even made my own excel spreadsheet classification of each of the pros technical and cons. Obviously, eventually opted for the A330, so I'll write this review from the perspective of the reason why I chose this camera and I enjoyed it immensely.

Image Quality
– Since you are looking for a digital SLR entry-level, image quality for all levels input is comparable (in my opinion). Since I am a shooter manually, the quality of my photos are actually based on values (aperture, shutter speed, ISO, light, etc) for you will be able to get a good quality of all of them.
"I rate the A330 as a bit more unusual, because in manual mode, Sony has something called "Creative Style" where you can further refine your shot (colors, night, sunset, etc … and each one of these modes, you can alter even more saturation, sharpness and contrast). See some of my photos in my profile!

Lenses
"This was one reason why the first series of Sony Alpha made my short list – any Sony or Minolta lenses will work with this camera. In addition, because the image stabilization built into the camera and not the lens, the cost is reasonable compared to other lenses. Therefore, any lens I can find on eBay I can use (no need to worry if one or more particular Sony lens Minolta lenses will work, so my options are endless).

Speed
– Despite the continuous shooting is not the fastest in its class, is definitely useless. The first time I looked at FPS, I thought this was something that was high on my list of features, but it is (unless you are an event photographer sports-) when something even fired relativity, you end up with tons of photos, which just finished erasing most of them. So is 2.5 to 3 fps being faster than I will need.
– As noted by respondents, the AF is fast (with a 9-point AF), and switching between Live View and Viewer Optical is very fast too!

Battery
– The battery power is pretty decent, especially since I'm not shooting with flash. But here is my job at all: I just use a vertical grip, adding three batteries total seamlessly use ([...]). This makes your camera grip as the 2k-5k large chambers, and give 3Xs the battery power.

A230 vs A330
– As those who have researched this well, the A230 is exactly the same camera as the A330, but do not have live view and tilting LCD. I am definitely getting the A230, as the viewfinder is better, and the price is cheaply. But I realized that I love shooting with live view, because in the manual mode, live view gives me an estimate of how aperture, focus, shutter speed and ISO vs affect my shot with the viewfinder of the A230, which did not show any of that (in the event viewer I'm just stuck waiting at the preview displays, so you need to check each shot and adjust, etc.) So the live view saves me time and space on my card SC and obtain photographs of either the first or second, versus time in April or May!

I could write all about my experience with the A3000 and A5000 Nikon and Canon XS XSi and but I will just say after testing them all I like the best Sony

ps I realize Nikon and Canon are more prevalent in the digital SLR market, so I wanted to give a real opportunity to Sony – FYI I have a Canon HD video camera, which I love much better than any of the models from Sony, so for the video definitely go with a camera Canon.
