T2 T mount adapter for nikon d3000?

I put the adapter on and the cam says there is no lens attached. Is there a setting i have to adjust?
I have a nikon D3000 and a T2 t mount adapter. trying to pair it to my telescope.

What exposure mode? Try setting the camera to manual exp. mode.
