i want to learn how to take headshots i need help?
i recently got a camera, its the nikon coolpix 8700, is this a good camera to use? if so i want to start doing out door head shots cause i hear that its easier to learn that way , any tips? when printed , what size do headshots need to be? what else do i need to know? i plan on offering my services free of charge to build a portfolio and only have the client cover the cost of the print. is that a good idea?
No! You should have gotten an SLR camera, what was the sense in you getting a glorified point and shoot camera? Sure, it has a few nifty features, but you won’t have the flexibility of changing lenses and fast apertures. You can’t add wide-angle lenses, or anything. If you can return it, do so, and get a Nikon D40 digital SLR. Maybe you plan on upgrading in the future?
Your not-charging way of building a portfolio is a great idea, that is how it should be. Yes, it’s a good idea. Try returning it, and getting an SLR camera. You’ll be a lot more impressed. When you start getting paid, the clients will notice the difference in quality. Good Luck.
