So I do not know much about cameras, but I'm up to my last two options. Not the SD1400IS Canon http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-SD1400IS-Stabilized-Black/dp/B0035FZJJ4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1294450657&sr=1-1 and the Nikon Coolpix S600: What http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-S6000-Vibration-Reduction-Black/dp/B0034XGLLM/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1294450635&sr=1-2 is better and why? I reduced price, but I do not know the quality of these brands.
As for what they both offer (recording 720p, 14 mega pixels) both are exactly the same. All extra stuff that comes with it (facial recognition, etc) is unnecessary and is only used as a selling point. I personally would go for Nikon CoolPix S600 and I've never had problems with Nikon. Both cameras are excellent, and Canon produce excellent cameras as well, but my vote is for Nikon in this regard.
