d40 nikon settings
What are the best settings for shooting and documents printed with my old Nikon D40 camera?

I have some old books over 50 years I want to scan. I can not scan with a flatbed scanner, as the pages are damaged. "I can shoot with my Nikon D40 camera. I also ML-L3 remote. What is the easy way to shoot and the camera settings, so you can keep these books by digitizing? Should I buy a tripod? how to put the books and the camera? etc.

First, the best set-up will be a copy stand and a macro lens, as Nikon AF-S Micro-Nikkor ED 60 mm f2.8G. Do you want a macro lens for flat field of focus and sharpness of the edge and center to center reduced to decrease the light edge. For lighting, can use two 100 watt bulbs in the spotlight at an angle of 45 degrees on either side of the page you are copying. You may have a diffuser on the lights. Sure to maintain any kind of material far enough away from the light source to prevent fire hazard (the bulbs get hot!). Set your white balance to incandescent. The camera must be 100% parallel to the page being photographed. The flatter the page of the book, more so probably have to mount a way keep the page flat. You might try a piece of glass – simply check for any possible reflections but that should not be a problem with your lights at an angle 45 degrees. Check anyway though. I probably shot in aperture priority at f8 or f11 using ISO 100 and let the camera worry about the speed shutter.
