What digital camera is best for me?

Hello everyone. I am currently looking into purchasing an advanced digital camera no (DSLR), and I wonder what suggestions you have. My budget is $ 0-250 and I know that the price may sacrifice image quality. The few houses I was looking at are the Kodak Z915 and the Nikon Coolpix L100. I am not looking for compact, just good optical zoom and good resolution. I'm taking action shots mostly of people in road bikes, nature photography and occasional gunfire. What do you recommend?
