Will Film Nikon SLR lenses to be usable for Nikon digital SLRs? I confirm I have heard that they do.?
Im just enter the picture now. I know very little. I was recently given a Nikon film SLR camera with an impressive set of lenses. I was planning on buying a nikon digital slr camera and wondered if I could use the camera lenses film digital camera. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
The answer is yes for most glasses, for details, see below. If the goal is very old (so-called pre-AI, manufactured from 1959-1977) is necessary be careful, because it can damage the lens of a Nikon digital SLR camera unless they are slightly modified. To be fully functional in all digital SLR Nikon (D40, including, D40x and D60), you need a lens with an AF-S designation (or AF-I – but these are rare). You can use lenses without AF-S/AF-I om these bodies, the Autofocus does not work. For other combinations, consult the table provided by Ken Rockwell (see link). His article also explains how to recognize a given type of lens.
