nikkor 18-200mm vs sigma
SLR Lenses: Nikon Nikkor 18-135mm vs Tamron 18-200mm Macro.?

So I've decided on the Nikon D80 and now I am considering lenes. I like the extra zoom Macro capability and would get the Tamron (or Sigma) 18-200mm lenes on the 18-135mm Lens Kit Nikon. Apart from a quiter AF, are there other advantages to the 18-135mm? Does better because it was done specifically to Nikon? How much stronger is not Silent Wave lenes? Are there differences in AF speed? If other lenes should consider, I'd love to know about them. And, no, although it would be good, I can not afford the nikon 18-200mm vr! Thank you.

The quality of the optics is the great problem here. The reason pros use Nikon and Canon is not because of electronics and features, but the quality of the lenses of these companies. If you have invested in a Nikon, to turn around and put Vivitar / Tokina / Sigma glass is actually counterproductive. The operating philosophy is "skimping on the camera (bought used, etc) and pass on the glass "zoom Nikon are much higher quality from Sigma or Tamron equivalent positions, will have far fewer problems with distortion, flares, etc. Before the introduction of the VR amazing (and expensive) 18-200mm, with much wider than an objective one thing was not so hot … The desirability of moving from wide angle to telephoto was offset by the lens is much less clear that a more limited zoom range, like 18-55 and 80-200. Tamron makes one very nice telephoto zoom (I think a 200-500), but not compared to Nikon or Canon. One drawback to the nikon kit lens is durability. They are all plastic construction compared to more expensive lenses Nikon with metal mounts. So if subjected to heavy use or lots of tough shooting conditions, it will not last. But for the occasional shot, and even the work study, are fine. Most kit lenses are not very fast, and 70-300G is frankly slothlike. See the section of the recommendation of the lens review Ken Rockwell D80 below. Good luck!
