Nikkor 50mm 1.8d Lens

nikkor 50mm 1.8d lens
How much would you pay for…?

I don’t THINK I’m going to sell it, but I have thought about it and it’s still in my mind.
I was wondering how much do you think I could sell it for with the D40 body and the 18-55mm kit lens. 1 year old, perfect shape. Paid just under 500 dollars for it?
How much would you pay?

Or if I sold it with the D40 Body, 18-55mm kit lens AND my Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D lens.
Then how much would you pay?

Just a curious thought.

Let’s suppose, for the purpose of this answer, you’ve decided to sell these items, and have chosen to do so on eBay. Allow me to offer some advice.

In my 10 1/2 years as an eBay member, my experience is that items sold as a group generally do not sell well, if at all, and when they do, they won’t receive as many bids.

This means that, if you were to list the items separately, you’re likely to get bids on ALL of them, not to mention even sell them all.

My main hobbies are photography and model trains. In both cases, I’ve seen auctions with several items in one lot, and that only two or three were of interest to me. Did I bid on them? Sometimes, yes, but by and large, I simply watched them. From the seller’s perspective, such sales are a gamble.

In model trains, I’ve seen freight car auctions that didn’t work for me – i.e., I didn’t bid on them – because I would have had to buy ALL the cars in that auction just to get the two or three that I really wanted. These were for a mixed-bag of freight cars, when I was simply looking for certain kinds, such as covered hoppers or boxcars, and I saw listings that had a smorgasbord of car types in one lot.

I recently won an auction for eight filters. I decided to bid on that lot because two of them were useful to me, and I did not have them. When I received them, I realized I would likely use four of those filters, and sell off the rest, as they duplicated what I already had. Now, if the seller has listed all eight in separate auctions, he might have received more bids for each auction, thus increasing his overall sales.

Now to get to your question. As I indicated, it would be better to list the lens(es) and body separately, as you’re more likely to sell everything when it’s NOT bundled together. While the body and kit lens might work for a “starter” kit, perhaps a prospective bidder is interested in only the kit lens, and having to buy a body along with it would cause him to move to another auction.
