What is an all-purpose lens ideal for the Nikon D80?
I'm upgrading to a Nikon D80 and now wants to begin buying three lenses: macro, telephoto lens, and to use every shot in general. I have decided with input from friends to go with the 105 mm f / 2.8 G IF ED AF-S VR Nikkor for macro, and I splurge and get the VR 70-200 mm f / 2.8 for a telephoto lens telephoto lens is primarily for dance photography (dark rooms and rapid movement of people), and macro Insect, food and flowers / etc .. I'd like a general purpose, since the work out of my camera while walking around town so you can take pictures without having to changing lenses, or something that works in most conditions. I'm also in portrait photography, but can be a target of the fourth stage which comes after having experimented with the first three (and when I can afford one!). Tips and suggestions are welcome, thanks in advance!
The 18-200 is very popular. Another popular option is one of the crystals in the range of 17-85mm. Justification being that they have already covered 70 to 200, why pay for that range again in the 18-200? If you do not need anything as large as 17 mm, then there are two pretty good choices 85mm 24. If you need a goal that is larger than 24 mm, then there is a very prestigious 17-55 mm lens that is a favorite of photojournalists. Is excellent and cheap does not.
