Tamron 70-300 Is it really as bad as many reviews say?

I'm relatively new to the world of photography and am looking to buy a telephoto. However much we love to buy the Nikkor 70-300 VR is not really in my price range. Buying a used Tamron, however it is. I've been looking at reviews and people are not usually too excited about the lens. What do you think, and there is another brand that would be better?

I personally I have two Two lenses, Tamron and Sigma I'm very happy. No I have the 70-300 so I can not say much about it other than what I read. Of reviews I see that the AF Dyxum is probably a little slow, but I doubt that there would be any slower than the kit lens, just slower than the lenses more expensive than expected. Also would expect the picture quality is very close to what you receive from your kit lens. So, if you're happy with your kit lens, then this lens should do well for you too. It is likely that only see their weaknesses, if you want to print large, as large as 11×14. Or if you start to see their files on more than 100% and all lenses show weakness when you do that. The first thing to be done however, is why you want this goal and if you really need. If you are finding that their goal Kit is not giving sufficient range, then you may just have something a little more. If you have the kit lens 18-55mm you might consider replacing it completely with something like the Nikon 18-105 which is actually quite long. You may have to save up a bit more money but it may be worth the Tamron 18-250 also might be a good option. http:/http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/586194-USA/Nikon_2179_18_105mm_f_3_5_5_6G_ED_VR.html / O www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/536016-USA/Tamron_AF018NII_700_18_250mm_f_3_5_6_3_Di_II_LD.html you could buy a 55-200 instead of 70-300: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/381797-USA/Nikon_2156_55_200mm_f_4_5_6G_ED_AF_S.html Another option if only the quality image of your current lens you do not like, is to get a cousin as the 50mm f/1.8 is great optically and makes a great lens for portraits and a bit of everything. http://www.bhphotovideo. I absolutely recommend com/c/product/247091-USA/Nikon_2137_Normal_AF_Nikkor_50mm.html Tamron and Sigma lenses and use them as their own. For any lens you are thinking buying, check all because you find that prices vary from store to store, even online. If you are willing to buy used, Craigslist and eBay may be great places to find gear used. Before buying used gear if you must learn about the red flags, such as fungi and oily aperture blades, especially if the computer is higher for the used equipment so you do not get a lemon. It would really be helpful if you were to explain what camera and lens (es) you have and why you are interested in a telephoto zoom. It would also help to know what you like to shoot.
