nikon d40x lens?

I have an AF Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6 G lens you just bought. I want to buy a Nikon D40x, but only if this goal is compatible. Does anyone know if it is?

If you have an RV in the aim of this http://www.photosynthesis.co.nz/nikon/afs70300.jpg then yes, if not then the objective will work on the D40, but no autofocus. I also spend a little more for the D80.
