Asked about the nikon d40x and auto focus.?

So I know that the Nikon D40x auto focus only with AF-S and AF-I lenses, but I'm not really focuses sure if the 85mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor. I have been instrumental in getting a new target for some months, and the thing is I'm on a tight budget. If you can not autofocus with my D40x then sucking a lot. And if not, would any of you have any suggestions as to another similar to f/1.8D AF 85mm lens that is approximately the same price? I'm in a photograph mostly portraits and occasionally help promote the bands and take some pictures of concerts. Thank-you so much! (:

Are you dependent on the auto-focus? You know until a few years ago, photographers were actually manually focus images. More important is the question gauge whether the work in order. It will. Here is a list of all Nikon lenses and cameras that they work. http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/compatibility-lens.htm Nikon AF 85mm f/1.8 http://www.nikonusa.com/ Find-Your-Nikon/Product/Camera-Lenses/1931/AF-NIKKOR-85mm-f% 252F1.8D.html As you see, the 85 mm is not an AF-S … However, since you are doing portraits, the 85mm lens is really a good portrait lens when using a 35 mm full frame DSLR or SLR like the Nikon D3, D3x and D700, but is a bit too Attah time when APS-C sensor DSLR. For shooting portraits with a primary objective, the new AF-S 50 mm f / 1.4 is preferred because with the 1.5x factor, becomes the equivalent of a 75 mm f/1.4 in its D40x
