help buying Nikon lenses of 50 mm?

Lately I've been waiting to get a 50 mm lens for my Nikon D300. I am a beginner and do not know much, or nothing at all about cameras or photography in general. I have two lenses for my d300, an AF-S DX Nikkor 18-70mm and a 35mm AF Nikkor. I was wondering Should I get a 50 mm lens? If so, which brand, type of lens should buy? Should I buy a zoom lens or just a normal lens?

Nikkor 50mm is very sharp, but do not suggest buying. The lens of today are more than enough to do what I could do with this objective. Buy the lens you need in the future and not now. Buy the lens when you know exactly what you need and why.
