Does this camera body and lens combination work?

Nikon D90 (body) + AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6 IF-ED (lenses)

The lens is formed and functioning properly in the body. So yeah. The Nikkor 55-200mm lens is good enough for outdoor sports, depending on how far which are of the action. I would be a very bad goal for any kind of landscape, and would be a good target for portraits.
