Nikkor F 1.8 Lens

what’s the best Nikkor lens for general photography?

i’m thinking a 55mm f/1.8.

As far as I know Nikon does not make a 55mm f/1.8. Even if they did it would not be a general purpose lens.

If you are shooting APS-C I would think that the 18-200mm would be a good general purpose lens. If you are shooting FF probably a 24-70mm or 35-105mm.
