Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 VS Ded. 70-300mm f / 4 VR II?

I want to know the difference between the Nikkor 70-200mm zoom lens and 70-300mm zoom lens. Be that 70-200mm lens the body does not extend as 70-300mm, and that you have a larger focal length. I am not an expert in lenses, obviously. The only objective use with my camera now is the Nikkor fisheye. Thanks

It is the openness that you have accidentally truncated in your question. Here is the truth descriptions of both lenses. Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G IF ED VR nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G IF ED VR can now clearly see the difference. The 70-200mm provides a fast, maximum aperture f/2.8 from one end of the focal length to another. The 70-300mm, by contrast, is much "slower" in 70 mm maximum opening af/4.5 and becomes slower, because it zooms to 300 mm, ending with a maximum aperture of f/5.6 at the long end. The opening is the hole where the light comes through the lens. Is expressed as a fraction of the lens focal length. That is what the "F" is the number. Consider the 70-200mm zoom lens at 70 mm with an aperture of f/2.8. The hole size is 70 / 2.8 = 25 mm. Compare this with the lens 70-300mm, 70mm zoom also with an aperture of f/4.5. 70 / 4.5 = 15.5 mm. the same length focal, but the great 70-200mm can give a much larger opening, lets through more light and hence "faster", because more light allows the use of camera shutter speed faster. This fast f/2.8 aperture is a cost. The 70-200mm is much larger, heavier and can not zoom 200mm past. If shooting outdoors under bright sunlight during an aperture of f / 8, the great 70-200mm lose the speed advantage of the smaller, lighter 70-300mm.
