Which is better or best 80-200 ED (what?) 70 – 300 Nikkor?
Please help me choose between 80 to 200, 2,8 ED and the best 70 to 300. Please also let me know what lens for Nikon is the best in 70 to 300 categories.
Between 70-300mm lens, I agree with Anthony that the version of virtual reality is obviously better. Whether it is worth the higher price is a personal call. For me, it would be. Both versions are grade lenses consumers. As for the 80-200mm f/2.8, Nikon also made several of them. And without exception they were quality professionals. AF problems that Anthony mentions appear to be limited to the models earlirer: http://photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00JpgC http://www.flickr.com/groups/ d200/discuss/72157603942435203 / It is difficult 70-300 and 80-200 compare against each other but due to excel at different things. If you need VR, or the range of 300mm, 70-300mm is your only option. If you need f/2.8, the 80-200 is your only option. The 80-200mm lens is also the best optics. But the 70-300mm is much lighter and less visible … I just read your previous question and considering you want to go pro and his highest priority is image quality, the 70-300 seems out of the question. In fact, your chances of upgrade are very limited. The only thing that beats your 80-200mm zoom in that range is the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8. Or for more wide with 80-200mm, get a Nikon 1.4x tele converter. The 80-400 is another option for more extensive – you could sell your 80-200mm budget solution. And of course, when you do as a professional, is the 200th absurdly faces-400mm f / 4. Here are some very good reviews of all these goals, Nice and stored in a single page: top_page # http://www.naturfotograf.com/lens_zoom_03.html
