If Nikon 35 mm SLR compatible with the D60 or D80?

I have a Nikon N65 with 2 objectives: 1. Nikon AF Nikkor 28-80mm 1:3.3-5.6 G 2. Nikon AF Nikkor 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 G I have the intention of getting a digital SLR camera. I wonder if these objectives fit any D60 or D80 and support autofocus and metering complete. If possible, then I'll just buy the body and the use of these lenses and save some money. If these objectives can not autofocus and I have to buy the kit complete then can instead look at Canon XSi. Does anyone have similar experience with non-specific lenses? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

They will work in both models, but they only autofocus of the D80 (the D60 has no AF motor inside – the D80 does.) Another thing to note is that all Nikon digital bodies except the D700 and D3 expensive (X) has a focal length multiplier of 1.5. This means you get free to get in the 70-300mm, it effectively becomes 105-450mm. This is bad news for the 28-80, however, that in fact becomes 42-120mm … you lose the wide-angle coverage. If this is a problem, you could pick up a cheap Nikon 18-55mm (27-83mm effectively)
