What scope should I get?
I'm buying a Marlin XL7 and need some glass to him. I went for the marlin because it is cheap and trust i their quality and I can spend that extra money in a nice area. I've been looking at the Nikon Buckmaster, the VX-I leupolt super sniper and others. I'll be doing the little hunting and target shooting (hunting more than anything else) Any suggestions are welcome. I will do is hunting in the forests of oaks and pines in South Carolina no more than 150 yards a shot from a tree stand if that helps any.
I do not like to hear the word cheap with Marlin, is a quality, affordable, reliable and very popular firearm. For Leupold and Burris optics are proudly made in the USA as the Marlin rifle. 3-9×40 seems a little extreme on the rise, but it is very popular.
