Leupold Rifleman vs. Nikon Buckmasters 3-9×40?
I'm debating between a Buckmasters 3-9×40 and a 3-9×40 rifleman. Looking at Wal-Mart today, the Nikon was definitely clear, however, dim the lights so he could see in low light:). On paper, the Nikon has a light transmission 4% higher, however no one has tested side by side in low light, and what were the results? I know Nikon is Versus Ford versus Chevy Leupold, Remington Savage Versus all, I am really looking forward hear some real world testing. I was Elk hunting in southern Colorado .. Also nobody has treated 40 mm vs. 50 mm, and really, the extra light gain an advantage? Since you can not hunt at night, do not want to spend the extra $ $ If it is not really going to help.
I have several Nikon and have never looked back. The optics are excellent. I do not think there could be a considerable increase in the light between 40 and 50 mm, only an increase in the field of vision. Leupold makes a great extent, but Nikon makes you like good for Le $ $.
