The best thing is to buy a Nikon or Canon digital SLR?
I'm looking at the Nikon D40, D60 and Canon XTi 10.1. What would you buy and why?
The Rebel XSi is the newest of the group and the only one who shoots at 14 bits so it has a wider color gamut and vivid color. It's a great camera. The rebel line holds its value much better than d40/d60 ago or even more d70/d80 the make / ha. Rebels also wear glasses ALL canonical where d40/d60 NOT do that for nikon! The Xti is a great camera to exceed the Nikon, though about 18 months old. Has much better image quality in low light / ISO higher than the Nikon do! This is one of the major flaws of the Nikoins have is terrible grain / noise in the higher range of ISO 800, where the canons are 1-2 configuration or stops better! And that's a huge difference! If you can swing the Rebel XSi, get it! It's basically a Canon 40D camera body in a rebel! The live view is useful for many use it in my Mark 3 bodies for macro shots especially, or when shooting from a computer. The XSI will hold its value very well, like other the rebels have for years, and so do the Canon lenses. The D40 is dirt cheap, and its events as a first step camera, one for a beginner to get and then throw in a year of renovation. The rebel, allow the user to keep shooting and not have to go out and spend much more money to get a real camera later, as a real camera. Rebels you're seeing also self cleaning sensor and it is very clear and can be useful too! Another reason why Canon is the market share of the majority, and design all their own chips and sensors, unlike Nikon. Note that the Nikon D40 is not even iso 100! Hope this helps. If you have any? Please let me know. I do workshops here in Ak and have worked most digital bodies out there. What is what triggers? That will also affect a little, and will also affect the lens options. When it comes to cameras, lenses and especially, you get what you pay …..
