What is the normal age of new digital camera lens in hot weather?
Hi I had used an SLR film camera different lenses for a long period (more than 20 years) and are a great cause in which so far were of a crystal, but now most or all new Plastic lenses are that they can get by Vice sunlight especially in hot, where erosion in summer temperature is above 45C (110F). I used some small compact cameras from Sony, which took good pictures but after 3-5 years I get Cloud as such and do not know if the reason behind quality target or a little dust on the lens. Clean the lens cleaning kit, but the images remained the same or worse. I'm thinking of the normal age of the lenses of compact and other DSLR cameras like Nikon, Canon and Pentax especially in hot climate.THANKS
I know of no canon or Nikon lens digital SLR are made of plastic so this must be a cause for concern. Some lens cover are plastic, but these are high quality and should not deteriorate normal. As a precaution, do not leave the lens in direct sunlight (morning sun) for extended periods and never in a glass-enclosed space (such as the dashboard of a car) in the sun. I try not to touch the surface of the lens as much as possible. If you use a good quality glass filter (UV), it is not necessary to clean the glass lens (only filters that can be replaced easily).
