Nikon D300 or Canon EOS 7D?

I've been a longtime fan of Nikon, but now that is out of the 7D I'm not sure which direction to go. This will be my first digital SLR so it's important I go with the best choice because it is likely going to involve the commitment of the company. I love Nikon, but this time Canon seems to have more features on your camera. I read very good reviews in the 7D, while others seem to be disappointed with the upgrade of the D300. Like take pictures at night and sporting events and know that because the video is being incorporated into SLR cameras, this is starting to catch my attention though I was always against it. All suggestions and opinions about these two cameras would help me a lot since I only have two weeks to decide which camera want.

I do not agree with the PS, I have a D300 and I have a friend who has a 7D, we did a shoot at all ISOs and comparison photo photo. The noise was about, but a slight edge went to the 7D. The image quality easily went to the 7D. The 18 MP is what really sold me when I saw a beat up your shot camera ISO 1600. From that moment, 12MP is not enough for me. The 300s were very contrasting images that caused a great loss of detail in the shadow area and the colors were exaggerated and unrealistic. Now I have my D300 on craigslist and fully prepared for a 7D.
