My Windows XP Home ed does not automatically detect the digital camera?

Why is my windows XP Home ed. does not automatically detect my newly bought Nikon S570 digital camera when I connect using USB cable? When you connect other devices like USB flash drive that automatically detects. I had other digital cameras and before my computer automatically detects no need to install drivers. However, this camera has not been detected even after installing the controller. What should I do?
