Can an old Nikon SLR lens is used with a D-SLR camera?
My mom has an old Nikon lens SLR film camera. Lens is AF Nikkor 35-70mm. If I bought a Nikon D-SLR, the lens of age could be used with the new camera?
Yes, it can, but if your new nikon digital slr becomes an entry-level model such as the D3000 and D5000, no autofocus. This is due to the chambers of engine failure 'screw' Autofocus is required to address such objectives. You would have to buy a D90 and AF over for that purpose. Another thing to consider: 35mm focal length is not very wide at all with a DSLR with a crop factor of 1.5. This means that is used in all Nikon DX digital SLR, 35 mm will give more than an equivalent of 50 mm. So if you're using a 35-70mm lens, forget about making architecture and landscape which requires a wide angle lens. In the end, I suggest you stick with the kit lens 18-55mm instead.
