"I can import movies from my digital camera to the computer? (Possibly iMovie)?

I have an iMac (do not remember when you bought it) and My camera is a Nikon Coolpix L11. Every time I try to import a movie on my computer, just import my photos, no movies, and when I try it on iMovie, a message that says I have no camera connected! Help!

The movies are in QuickTime, so it will work. I use a card reader memory to open the mine.
