Using the remote control with Nikon D80?

I wonder if I can use the controller and the timer feature cooperation for Nikon D80? As in the use of remote control to activate the timer. Infra Red Self has to be pointed directly at the camera there is a point where self-making can be seen pointing the remote in the picture? I'm considering buying the remote but not too sure how it works …. thanks:) I'm talking about the Nikon ML-L3 Control Wireless Remote

Of course, it should be. I have the manual MC-30 I use on my D200 and self-timer works well. I guess the same will be true with wireless remote control is used. Have you tested it?
