I'm saving for a new camera with a very good zoom. I have one with 5.1 megapixels and 3x optical zoom. my mother has an excellent camera with 10x optical zoom and 8 megapixels. Ignore digital zoom altogether. If you want to zoom, go with the super-optical effects rather than one that extends pixels using the digital zoom.
