Why does my new Nikon CoolPix work with Picasa?

I bought a new Nikon Coolpix about 3 weeks ago. I put a SD card of 256 MB of impact on him. Is full, and I'm trying to get my photo as I did with my Kodak. I use Google Picasa, and I love it. Easyshare HATE. Even nikon software does not detect my photos either my memory or on the camera. My computer will detect those in the same camera that has 2 cards larger. One is in my Kodak, I can not find the other. I was with the little until I realized I liked this camera. I've never had to use a card reader, no more than 5 years. Picasa does not automatically "Detect" the camera, I have to say where. Picasa image is the only program I use. I have had many problems with others. I installed Nikon software because I had not tried before. Thank you for responding, Phto, but did not really answer my question. I still do not understand why once I get equipment / software to detect my camera, which detects images.

The SD is very small .. get at least a 2GB card. Use a reader USB card to copy images from memory card to your computer … is no reason to use any photo program to move files to card image your computer. Any JPEG file to work with Picasa and EasyShare and Photoshop … any of these programs that no matter what camera you use. You have to use their skills computer instead of waiting for everything to be done for you once get the image files on your computer, just use the photo program you like to make changes in your files. The programs are not really supposed to detect anything. You have to tell the program where your image files on your computer is … like when using a processor Word to write documents … you have to know where on your computer to open them.
