I can do my Nikon Coolpix L1 digital camera take pictures of red-infrastructure?

I wonder if you can shoot any type of digital photos with my Nikon Coolpix L1 at night (without flash, for those who might suggest the obvious). Are there any special lenses or attachments that I could buy that could arm to do so? I've seen other digital cameras with IR attachment on top and a "pull night" option to shoot big shots in the dark. So I have to get a camera specially constructed for that purpose, or it may be something done?
