Although the canon has 5 megapixels and the nikon has 8 how come the canon takes such better pictures. what does this mean. the canon has a huge lens. check out the links and answer with your reccomendation. how come the canon takes better pix is it an slr?
People are under the false idea that more pixels means better quality photos – and nope, that’s not the case. You can indeed have a 5MP camera that takes better photos than an 8MP model. It all depends on the quality of the lens, the quality/size of the CCD (chip inside that captures the image), and how the camera processes the photo before it stores it on the memory card. My opinion is that the Canon S2 IS would be a better camera to take on a vacation. It has a much greater zoom range with image stabilization, nicer lens, and you can use AA off-the-shelf batteries in a pinch if your rechargeable batteries die on you. You can still get good prints up to 8×10 with the Canon’s sensor, and honestly, how many vacation prints will you print that large or larger anyway? So don’t fall for the “pixel hype” – more doesn’t mean better.
