Loading a Nikon Coolpix S550?

I borrowed my friend Nikon Coolpix S550 digital camera to upload photos. I could not transfer pictures to my computer, So finally I looked up and downloaded the software, but by the time I have to work, the battery was exhausted and in order to upload the pictures, the camera must be turned on. I did not ask lent its battery charger, because I knew nothing of this. Is there any way to upload photos without having the camera? And if I only have the camera connected to the computer using the USB port, the camera thing missing from my computer …
