nikon d40x camera kit
a good purpose for my Nikon D90?

I get a new lens for my Nikon D90. I am currently using my 18 55mm lens kit age of my d40x and is not my camera just do full justice. anyway, my price range is under 250 I'm fine with a fixed zoom and want something that maybe I can do a macro? that was looking at the Nikkor 50mm 1.8 I read that is very good in low light is a plus, but I was wondering if it's good with macro? Or any other recommendation would be great thankyou!

As you noticed the photos are limited by the lens that is why experts agree that it is the goal and not the camera body must expend your money. The 50 mm f 1.8 is a good lens ($ 120). Is strong, capable of depth of field and can shoot in the dark w / o flash. No macro, but you can add a zoom lens on (filter) to any target. The 16-85 mm f 3.5-5.6 VR (> $ 550) and 17-55 mm f 2.8 (> $ 1100) are the best replacement for the kit lens though. It can do everything your current target can be done, but better. Both are sharp, but one has VR and the other is fast. VR is good to shoot stationary objects in low light and fast lens is good for photographing moving subjects in low light. Finally, a telephoto zoom VR 55-200 mm f 4 -5.6 is a good complement to the 18-55 zoom and is about $ 250.
