I have a Nikon D40x camera for Christmas. And I was wondering if there is a way to do so you can see what you're taking on the screen? I can not seem to understand. Thank you.
It is a feature available on the D40x. There is a shutter and the mirror in the path of the sensor. You must use the viewfinder – the camera focuses faster and get a view with real photons used for images and not to a screen that is low resolution and smeary. I have to laugh when one answers scolded for asking about this feature, Poo-Poos, then the points in the same breath that the function is in the higher end DSLRs. It seems intellectually inconsistent to me. No Sometimes, a feature is really useful, but not the best way to take a photo. The Live View function on a camera SLR is better used for things like teaching a class or macro work, which are quite specialized. For the big picture you have, trust me, you are far much better with the viewer. Notice how the D40x is the fastest way? That's because the stage of focusing on a SLR faster than contrast based on focus used in Live View.
