With a DSLR of such power, the veterans out there trying to make a living through this art medium might lose business to newbie photographers. With a 16.2 Megapixel Nikon DX format CMOS sensor, this camera isn’t joking around. This isn’t just some normal point and shoot the average person might buy at the local department store. No. This is for the aspiring photographer who desires to make art and push aside any road blocks to their artistic ability. The Nikon D7000 uses the newly developed EXPEED 2 image processor, making the D90 act like a slug in processing speed. To give the picture snapper with a clear view of the target, Nikon designed a 3 inch TFT LCD screen rocking a 640×480 VGA resolution. To make work easier, the screen also has 100% picture coverage. So in other words, what you see is what you get. For the aspiring filmmakers and on the road cinematographers out there, the Nikon D7000 also has a Full HD D-Movie feature that allows a resolution of up to 1080p. Until recently, only a limited amount of camcorders had such features, and now a DSLR has such capabilities. It makes anyone think about what the engineers at Nikon have prepared in the future. Why bring along another camcorder, when with a few quick twists and button clicks, you have a professional level quiver for your own use? There is no need to resort to pulling around that separate video camera or even your smart phone for its {lackluster|lacking|cheap|shoddy| video capabilities. This is 2010, and anyone who desires to make their pieces of artistic media unique from the others has to record in 1080p. What you want and all you need are found within your Nikon D7000.
As an amateur who started in photography taking pictures with a simple point and shoot, I can say that for people in such a position, adopting the Nikon D7000 into their set of tools would help inspire the learning photographer well beyond his or her limits. Being held back by the basic functionality and limited features of point and shoots, anyone’s possible abilities can be totally wasted. Not one person wants to be wasted talent. Gathered over a thousand dollars for a D90 casing, lens, and flash. Of course, my pockets were basically empty after this purchase, but my art kept improving. Sure, the photographer is what makes the photo, not necessarily the tool used, but moving up to a DSLR from a point and shoot made such a huge difference.
What I’m essentially implying is that if you’re almost at the point of going to the next level, wait for the Nikon D7000 to ship this fall. You never know.
