As its name implies is evaluated the whole scene and in simple terms can be considered to be compared with a database of images to produce accurate results required. It is based on the following factors – 1. The overall brightness of the scene. 2. The differences in the light measured by the sensor pixel data (ie, the "patterns"). 3. The focus area has been selected (which the camera assumes that says something about the "subject" is). 4. Information from the objective. 5. The color (or colors) areas measured. It eliminates the compensation needed when shooting subjects with dark or light, scenic pictures of the sky or close to a blurred sky and a lot other scenes you can imagine. 3D matrix is currently the most advanced metering mode provided by Nikon. It is also, however impeccable. In the case of dark filters (polarizers, etc. Key.) Exposure compensation is needed. Specific scenes also require exposure compensation.
