How much import tax on a digital camera that costs 500 pounds?
I want to buy a Nikon D90 as cheaply as possible without risking my money. So I found a U.S. reliable online store that we send the camera to me (shipping 30 pounds) at a price of 500-pound camera. A savings of approximately 170 pounds for the UK retail price. With that I guess I could buy a charger adapter or batteries. I guess that still savings may come out on top around 110 pounds before tax. But I can not seem to know how much tax will be on the subject when in the UK, I guess I have to pay. Is it just a fixed rate of 12.5% or is there some magic percentage that need to be considered. Is it worth it? Or for peace of mind I just to cough up additional money for the expensive costs of the UK? anyone had experience with this?
