What can a D70 battery drain overnight?

I just got a Nikon D70 off eBay (as it is, of course), with the only issue to be sent "probably a bad battery." Apparently, when the battery was fully charged within the camera, it would be dead by morning. This is done, but it happens to all my batteries, including the EN-EL3e. The camera is in the off position. I heard some cards CF does not like Nikon. I tried several cards and even without a card slot. I've also read in other posts that only my camera battery is dead THINK, and can not try to power up. Mal, my D300 has a feature to let me know the juice left in the battery. Dead drained. Is there anything anyone can think in the absence of sending it to Nikon for an expensive repair?

Suppose you have a short circuit somewhere. I'm afraid the only solution would be to send to Nikon. Sorry for the bad news.
