Incredible value
I have shot Canons and Nikon at various levels and to hit the ball can not get a better value than the Kx. The high ISO is amazing, comparable to cameras costing three to four times more. Entry level does not do justice to Kx. The Kx compares very well with much more expensive camera features and image quality. Get it.
level BEST entry DSLR
The Pentax Kx is my first DSLR and am very happy that I chose this over this more than other major brands for several reasons:
1) noise reduction of the century (up to 3200 ISO with little noise)
2) you can buy and use older Pentax lenses (I prefer the "A" cousin type are of quality and low cost), as well as digital.
2) 720 high-definition video (no significant limits, except what gives your SD card)
3) Interior vibration reduction (for movies and photos)
4) Many of the different filtering options (although I prefer PP)
5) User Interface easy (intuitive menu)
6) AND IS SUPER CHEAP!
Basically, it comes down to what lens collection you want to be part of and how are willing to pay. The Pentax Kx has a lot of features for the price and so for my budget, which has been a joy.

1) Battery life (I use Eneloops and stimulating new work on my camera by updating the firmware 1.01)
2) No confirmation of AF (oh Well, I use manual focus lenses and replaced the focusing screen with a Nikon K-3)

are interchangeable with it. It deivered when promised. Very satisfied
