I have a Nikon Coolpix L18 (digital camera) and tells me to format the card?

Okay so when I wanted to go through the photos I took that day, I turned on my camera and said "the card is not formatted. format the card?" so if you click on it, but then he said "all the images will be deleted! right?" and I said no. and just off. I really memorable images I have uploaded and I can not erase how am I supposed to fix this? what's wrong with my camera? Then I tried to connect using the USB cable and the same thing happened. Does anyone know what is wrong? I have an ATP Pro Max SD memory card if support THT wiped my memory card and so did

upload to your computer then enter setup and youll find a place to format the card
