I am an amateur with experience in 40D for 3 years. I have learned to use manual configuration and usually shoot P or AV mode. I do not trust their skills before the state of M. The main change for the Auto ISO function better. It's fantastic. ISO-set for each of Tv, Av My or regulation is incredible. ISO 6400 images are bright. Noise is visible around 12800, the noise depends on the ambient light, and small at times. I was surprised pleasantly good pictures in low light appear. IQ is great – I shoot JPEG, mainly because I have no time for RAW. I am very happy with my purchase. For maximum benefit, good to have at least one fast lens (50mm F1.4 Prime Minister is going to me), especially in interior shots of low light. LCD screen is great. Personally, I found this easy to use camera that the 40D for a routine checkup. Some of the AF / Drive options are a bit confusing, but if you play long enough for this menu is fairly intuitive and simple. I love the video. This gives me the opportunity to capture the clips on vacation. The video is best on a tripod and the learning curve, compared with conventional video cameras. You have to wait to stop, no noise, no lights!

What is three months since I got this camera and I love it!

Otherworldly image quality

I tried to buy this camera through Amazon, but is not available or bad price so I went to a local dealer to get the MSRP. I'm an amateur photographer upgrading from a 50D as needed a second camera for my travels of wildlife. I was hesitant to go with the 7D, as there seems to be a substantial difference in the IC to the 50D (in fact some reviews critical condition is even worse!). I am writing this after taking some photos thousends couple in Costa Rica during a recent vacation. To say in advance: The IQ is otherwordly good compared to the 50D (and even my 5DMII). I could take pictures of monkeys and birds in the jungle in the shadow of ISO up to 12800 that are more than helpful. Burst rate quick, of course, very helpful. The AF is certainly something that should be familiar with (read the manual and white paper) and get used to. I took some tack sharp pictures using my 500mm F4 IS lens (no tripod!), But I'm still far from being fully able to use the AF AIservo. In addition, the AF point to take away objects can get that tack sharp. Handling the camera is much better compared to the 50D as expected from a 1D series camera, especially the option of using the vertical format appreciated. The only criticism I have is minor charger that is so large as a brick and has no advantage, because they can not charge two batteries in parallel anyway! I wonder what he thought when Canon released this …
In conclusion, if you can pay the price, go for the 1D Mark IV. You will appreciate it.
In conclusion

Canon Hits One Out of the Park

I have been a Canon shooter for a while now, but seriously considered jumping to Nikon with the launch of D3. He pulled it out with my 1D3, despite negative reviews, performs exceptionally well for me.

When the D3S freedom was all they could do to resist hitting the "Buy" button. I wanted to see what the specs 1D4 appeared before I decided to stay with Canon or do like many other shooters Canon body for and make the switch to Nikon.

The 1D4 released and I liked the specifications, so I bought the camera. I was one of the first in U.S. to get my hands on a 1D4, I got mine at the end of January, when the few organs first landed. I've been shooting with it for a month and I can say, is an amazing body.

AF:
The autofocus system is significantly higher than the 1D3, which was excellent to begin with. My 1D3 had no problem sub-mirror that plagued other users, so in that sense I was lucky. My 1D3 had its quirks, such as losing focus on topics about actually doing it quickly or not either very low light. The 1D4 these resources not only peculiarities of the 1D3, which goes further and takes a big body and makes it exceptional. I've shot basketball games in stadiums with little light, I shot outdoors (even winter) sports, I have hunted birds, I rode in the study and every time I'm impressed with the performance of the 1D4 is.

ISO:
The High ISO is good, but not what I expected. I mean, with a little noise reduction processing I will post beautiful pictures in ISO 12800. Everything in the past 12 800 and the images are mostly unusable part. There is some chroma noise at ISO 6400 and above, but the luminance noise is more noticeable. Despite having a bit of grain to the 6400 + pictures are amazing detail in high ISO images. They clean very well and produce quality work print. It's about the performance of a stop better than my 1D3, which is good. This is even with my 5D2 with the slight advantage going to the 5D2. But that is close is amazing.

Controls:
I like the new features like being able to record two different AF points based on the orientation of the camera. I also like to AF have two points recorded for each orientation. I can select two points in the horizontal position, for example, and while pressing the shutter button and AE Lock switch between the spot. This is very useful when shooting sports and other events. The ability to use the joystick to quickly select a new point of AF is also a touch nice one I use often. The lack of a video button seems a bit odd (like the one found in the 7D), but do not really use the video function digital SLR, so this is a moot point for me. Apart from a few changes in the hood, the controls are very similar to the 1D3 aesthetically, rather than a kind of consolation 1D time shooters.

Auto ISO:
This feature finally to the series 1 and I love it. I've never worried about auto ISO in the past, mostly because I never really Canon offers a solid introduction. I have been using in my 1D4 and that's all I can say "Good job!" It is very useful.

Overall:
I would say that the 1D4 is more of a statement 1D3n. For sure it has a completely new sensor of 39 cross-type AF points and a vastly improved display system LCD along with some other adjustments, but nothing really that different from the 1D3 to replace it. I am very happy with the upgrade of the 1D3 to 1D4 and make the purchase again. It is an very solid system.

Amazing camera

I had the pleasure of using a pre-production 1D Mark IV for several weeks, and just use my 5D Mark II already. As a photographer, this camera does everything necessary – more important to me:

– Low noise ISO. I have no fear at all going to ISO 12 800. Images remain sharp and good color. There are no ugly lines at all. Ideal for shooting sports at the stadium to light shit (see link below).
– Improved autofocus especially in low light. With any camera I used before, the autofocus in low light was terrible. Still not great, but it is much better.
– 10 fps with a large buffer. In a fast card (60 MB / s or more) you can put on the shutter for several seconds on the highest quality before it starts behind.
– Compared with the 5D Mark II, this is built like a beast. I banged around a lot and still looks new.

Here are a couple of shooting ranges at all with the Mark IV. I think the ISO for the first is 5,000 and the second is 4000:
