Nikon N2000 shutter will not open!?

I just bought a Nikon N2000 and the shutter does not open when I take a picture. The shutter blades when I wiggle the open back and press the button to advance Auto 4 frame. How can I fix this? I have not tried through her life, but I took my class itcto photography and my instructor told me I should open. I was thinking of taking her to redress, but I will not waste my money if it's something simple.
