Review FinePix S1000fd SLR Digital Camera
The Fuji Finepix S1000fd is a 10 megapixel super zoom camera with a 12x optical zoom.
Why Buy Fuji FinePix S1000fd?
The FinePix S1000fd is little cheaper than most super zoom models. Much of The reason for this is that it has a shorter zoom and one or two fewer features than some of its competitors. The advantage of the FinePix S1000fd not have all the bells and whistles is that it helps that the camera that little bit easier to use.
Image Quality target = '_blank'> Fuji FinePix S1000fd test shots
Outdoor 1 (Medium Zoom)
The FinePix S1000fd handles the colors and the darker areas the photos too. I am impressed with the definition given in the name of one of the boats in the center of the photo. The sharpness is good too. Some detail is lost of the most brilliant of the socket where the sun falls on the boat.
Outdoor 2 (No Zoom)
The approach is more or less in line with digital cameras most others in this shot. In terms of the concentration of this is the most difficult to run. The more distant parts of the scene are softer, but most of the vaccine is quite sharp. I liked to see more brightness in the shot.
Outdoor 3 (Maximum Zoom)
There is a strong turquoise halo shown in this photo. It is true that everyone has this super zoom problem (or more commonly purple fringing) in a degree, but this photo suggests the FinePix S1000fd suffers more most others. This problem occurs on bright conditions, subjects with colored lights in the shot. It is likely that the problem will be evident even in small impressions.
With the lens fully extended levels softer approach than the average.
Outdoor 4 (Building)
This is another picture you would like to have seen a light touch. In the shaded areas is a loss of definition in the photo. On the brighter sections of the picture is much sharper that when the zoom lens was completely.
Outdoor Portrait
Working much closer to the subject makes for a very specific picture. The colors are very strong, but provided much warmth to the photo. I used a white balance setting from the shadows to add extra sparkle to the colors in the shot.
Portrait Flash interiors
The flash unit produces pop-up a large amount of brightness. This is a clear picture. Maybe some extra heat in the skin tones have been improved further photo.
Portrait free internal Flash
Using the natural lighting available FinePix S1000fd manages to produce a light, bright picture. This works well for the darker hair. Noise is well controlled in the shot.
Colors
A lot of color in my test shots without the camera is at the top. With blues and greens this should help to produce colorful landscapes.
Macro
In super macro mode the FinePix S1000fd is able to enter very close to the subject. This helps provide a crisp, clear picture with a good level of detail. In fact, this macro picture is for very well against other similar digital cameras.
ISO 400 and ISO 1600
Fuji digital cameras tend to handle higher ISO settings as well or better than other brands. That is the case with the Finepix S1000fd. While noise remains evident in areas shaded darker or more of the shots, the camera controls the noise levels better than the majority of cameras to use.
Total
I'm pretty happy with the FinePix S1000fd. Ironically, the problem of a shot is when the zoom is fully extended. This after all is a key test for this picture camera. I also found some pictures of my test a little dark.
Filling
Taking a single picture with the FinePix S1000fd clocked a reasonable time of .42 seconds. All my other tests produced slow times. Five photos took 19.63 seconds, a flash photo 1.68 seconds and five photos with flash 20.47 seconds.
It took 3.08 seconds to turn on the camera and take a picture.
You can compare this with other camera models take a look at the Shutter Comparison Chart .
Style: The FinePix S1000fd is small for a super zoom camera. Like most of its competitors has been inspired by a DSLR.
Dimensions: 73 x 102.5 x 67.8mm
Weight: 325g
Batteries: four alkaline batteries AA.
Memory cards: 24 MB of storage are available to start the FinePix S1000fd. I was able to store 11 images before that the memory was full. To increase the capacity if the memory card you can use xD, SD and SDHC cards.
Rating ease of use: up average. With the additional features of the FinePix S1000fd manual is not as easy to catch and getting started with simple point and shoot camera. The reason of winning ease of use above the average rating is that compared with other similar cameras, you probably get to grips with it faster bits.
Points I like:
It easier for other super zoom – compact size for the type of camera
In If you could improve:
Shot with the zoom fully extended disappointing
Alternatives
If you would like try a super zoom digital camera to a longer target, better overall image quality and one or two extra features the Nikon Coolpix P80 testing.
Verdict:
The Fuji FinePix S1000fd does most things quite well, apart from taking pictures with the zoom fully extended. It's so easy to use as any camera super zoom and is relatively compact.
